Penshurst West Public School students are motivated learners who share their learning journey with good friends in a well resourced and happy school. The school aspires to be a place "where children love to learn".  The school is located in a huge, grassy playground with plenty of shade and room for students to spread out and play. Our core values include:  quality teaching; a community which actively supports the school; leadership that is planned, effective, organised and supportive; high expectations for students' learning; team work, consultative decision making and consistency  while valuing the diverse abilities of students and staff.

Penshurst West has student growth as a priority and demonstrates excellent academic growth across the diverse student population including students who are highly gifted and those with disabilities. 48% of students are from a language background other than English and these students excel though the support of a strong ESL program. The school caters for gifted students through targeted classes, differentiated classroom programs as well as extension and acceleration opportunities in talent areas. Students with disabilities have maximum support through a strong learning support team who support special needs students through learning support teachers and numerous regional support teachers. Strong student welfare programs ensure students are happy at school and confident in their learning.

Penshurst West has a focus on technology as a tool for learning with Interactive Whiteboards in each classroom along with a Federal Government and community built Technology Learning Centre.  There are a huge range of Creative Arts performance opportunities including guitar, keyboard, recorder, dance, drama,  KapaHaka and choir groups.  Our school community values the opportunities our students have for sport including netball, soccer, rugby league, cricket, tennis, softball, T ball, newcombe ball, basketball, touch football, AFL, Oztag, swimming, cross country and athletics teams.
